BACKGROUND
Sam Tordoff is one of the UK’s most successful tin-top racing drivers. Since his karting debut at the age of 11, the Leeds-based driver has gone on to set an enviable benchmark across a number of high profile championships such as the British Touring Car Championship, British GT Championship and Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
Sam made his mark on the UK motorsport scene racing in the Renault Clio Cup in 2009, picking up a BRDC rising star along with his first race win before making his full BTCC debut in 2013. The 29-year-old already has three BTCC titles to his name – clinching the Manufacturers’/ Constructors’ Title with MG in 2014 before securing the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Titles with BMW in 2016 – where he also narrowly missed out on the Champions’ Crown by just two points.
A switch to the British GT Championship with Barwell Motorsport for the 2017 season was rewarded with yet more silverware, with the Yorkshireman’s four podiums playing a fundamental part in helping to secure the Teams’ Championship. A return to the BTCC grid for the championship’s 60th anniversary year celebrations rewarded Tordoff with his 7th win and 28th podium of his career so far in the Motorbase-run Ford Focus RS, with the Yorkshireman also ending the season as the highest-placed qualifier.
Switching to the CobraSport AmD with AutoAid/RCIB Insurance Racing squad for the 2019 season, Tordoff will pilot the #600 race-winning Honda Civic Type R as the Thurrock-based outfit prepares for its most ambitious campaign to date.
